Energy and enthusiasm come together through a festival that enchants not only the eyes but also the surrounding environment. This autumn, in Timișoara, Lights On brings us the resources and creativity necessary to generate joy in our lives without compromising the future. We invite you, therefore, to a festival where light installations crowd the ordinary world and transform it into a fairy tale place. All of this with carefully measured kWh numbers as environmental responsibility takes the stage.
Last year, in Cluj, every visitor who admired the 10 exhibited installations was part of an environmental manifesto. Surprisingly, the total electricity consumption of all the festival’s installations that illuminated the city in the heart of Transylvania was equivalent to only 3.5 kWh – a value encountered in an average apartment for a day of usual activities. To put this in context, this electric consumption is comparable to the energy needs of a household with two adults and two children on a typical day.

The festival is not just an opportunity to bring people together to enjoy art and technology, but also a subtle call to our responsibility towards the environment. A manifesto through which the audience understands that they are capable of actively contributing to electricity conservation – a highly debated topic in this period. By simply participating in the festival, each person becomes a genuine source of energy savings, as the luminous installations temporarily replace the usual needs for energy consumption, such as televisions, laptops, or other electronics and appliances.
