Timișoara is preparing to become an epicenter of light and culture this autumn through a major initiative aimed at putting the city on the cultural map of the world. Lights On arrives in the West of the country at the end of September as the first festival in the country to be included in the ILO (International Light Festivals Organisation), the worldwide network of public light festivals, public light events, and lighting art experts.
Under the motto “Culture Doesn’t Sleep”, The Night-Art Festival brings night art to the forefront, changing the perspective on art and offering visitors a unique experience. Under the moonlight and the glow of the stars, we will explore together the mysteries of nightlife, using different ways of interacting with art. Lights On Romania brings to Timișoara both spectacular light installations and related events and activities designed to give the community a boost.
Through its enrollment in the ILO, Lights On consolidates Romania’s position on the map of international light festivals and marks an important moment in the evolution of the national cultural scene. Part of this network, the festival is twinned with more than 70 other major international events such as the Canary Wharf Winter Lights and Glow Eindhoven light festivals. Installations from the Netherlands, France and the UK will be coming to Timisoara – each with their own stories.
We look forward to discovering the beauty and magic of this unique festival, which promises to bring light into the night of Timișoara and into the souls of its visitors.
