#CultureDoesntSleep, the official hashtag of Lights On – The Night-Art Festival, stands for the idea that cultural events don’t have to be limited to daytime hours, but can also shine at night. In other words, art, music, literature, theater, dance and any other form of cultural expression should be accessible and appreciated at any time of the day or night.

In a nutshell, #CultureDoesntSleep invites us to approach cultural diversity with more flexibility and imagination. Cultural activities should not be subject to a rigid schedule, but should be available to the public on a continuous basis. This creates more varied and accessible cultural opportunities for everyone, whatever their pace of life or schedule.

This concept is not only a statement of intent, but also a challenge for cities, communities and cultural organizations to adapt to this vision. This means developing creative strategies to promote and present art in a way that meets both the needs of artists and the desires of audiences. It is a call for a culture that never stops, that knows no time barriers and that encourages a continuous cultural dialogue.

We take pride in the fact that Lights On brings art to the streets and public spaces at night and we can be promoters of this ideal. Since its first edition, this event runs from dusk to dawn and offers residents and visitors a unique cultural experience that transcends the usual hourly boundaries.

For us, #CultureDoesntSleep is more than a slogan or a hashtag – it’s our vision of culture, it’s how we promote access to art and creative expression as a fundamental right, regardless of time of day or daytime. We want to inspire cities and communities to develop a vibrant cultural environment, open around the clock, and give people the chance to enjoy the beauty of culture at any time of the day or night. In this way, culture never sleeps, but is always awake and ready to delight and inspire us.
