Leonid Tishkov

The art of Russian artist Leonid Tishkov, the physician turned artist, can be best described as poetic, metaphysic and avant-garde like. He started his career by drawing cartoons, showing irony and black humor, and continued by making large-scale installations that aimed to engage the viewer into absurdist situations with fictional cartoon characters.

The artist also approached themes like memory (the “The Knitling” and “Divers from Heaven” oeuvres) and the romantic, even magical tradition (“Anthology of Heaven”, “Private Moon” – which will be a part of our Circuit).
